Worship service

Our worship services start at 11am. A regular service includes music, scripture reading, a children’s feature, a meditation/ sermon, sharing, and prayer. Our pastor speaks every other week, and we invite people from the congregation or broader community to share with us on the remaining Sundays.

Language

MFM is an anglophone congregation. That being said, our church has people who speak a variety of different languages. It is common to hear readings or sing songs in different languages during our services. On occasion, we have a speaker who delivers the meditation in French.

Music

Music is an important part of our worship and our expression of community. Music is one of the ways people share their gifts. For Sunday morning, hymns are chosen from the various Mennonite Church hymnals, mainly Voices Together. Our church has a tradition of singing in four-part harmony, for those that are able. People are invited to join in the singing in whichever way they are the most comfortable.

Sunday School

We have a film theology group that meets on the last Sunday of each month at 10am. People watch the movie in advance and then discuss it at our meetings. If you would like to know the movie of the month, please email our pastor (Annika Krause) at pastor@mfmtl.org.

We occasionally also have topical Sunday morning group discussions. You can contact our pastor for more information.

We currently do not have a Sunday School program for children.

Annual retreat

Once a year, usually the last weekend of September, we head out to the country to one of our local camps to spend time in community, learning, worshipping, and having fun together. We have a different topic and speaker each year.

Special events

In addition to our weekly services, we have a variety of events that we do together as a community. Highlights include “faspa” (a shared light meal) followed by a hymn-sing for First Advent, an annual late-summer corn-roast at a congregant’s farm, Easter brunch, Thanksgiving potluck, and arts nights. In addition, we have special services for Christmas, Easter, and Good Friday.
